Astrum is one of highest leveled Angel players in Arcadia, if not the highest, and carries one of the keys to exiting World V, the Divine Blade. Though he is highly regarded for his skills as a leader and fighter, most players find Astrum a bit odd due to the fact that he continues to roleplay in World V.

As he tends to get lost in character, he has a deep hatred towards Demons since he feels the angels are more deserving to exit World V and views that the demons are truly evil, even though they are just normal people, like himself. Though Astrum is always kind and a gentleman towards the protagonist, he is actually quite short with everyone else unless he feels they deserve his respect. In the real world, his name is Toru Asou, a medical student, a gifted hacker, and is ranked second in his class, which annoys him greatly. He often feels people are looking down on him, especially Shiki Hanamiya, the protagonist's brother. Due to his paranoia and lack of confidence, he often speaks erratically about how someone (including the protagonist) is likely judging him over trivial things and has a general dislike for most people, especially the bold, the loud and Shiki, who he assumes revels the fact that he can never best him. It's unclear when he began playing Arcadia, but it's bit suggested that Toru is generally a gaming nerd who has a very active online presence, who wishes to become someone all players can look up-to. Once "Amadeus" appears, he sees this as fate, to be able to prove that he is finally worthy of the respect he has longed for in the real world, though he is often caught up in his online persona and views her as a princess or goddess, when she is just normal human-being.
